Less immigration would affect economy, Powell says

A reduction in the number of immigrants coming into the US could slow the economy because of lower population growth, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said in a letter to Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev. Powell, who has been criticized by President Donald Trump, said immigration was an issue decided by the administration and Congress.
