Incoming acting head at OCC has ties to Mnuchin

Brian Brooks, who is set to become acting head of the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, is a former general counsel at Fannie Mae and a former vice chairman at OneWest Bank. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin was part of a group of investors who ran OneWest during the time Brooks worked at the bank. Brooks will succeed Comptroller of the Currency Joseph Otting, who plans to resign.
